| Hinweis | Accumulated groups of objects or materials having a focal characteristic and that have been brought together by an individual or organization. A collection comprises multiple items that are conceptually or physically arranged together for the purpose of cataloging or retrieval. A collection differs from an archival group because the items in a collection are bound informally for convenience and do not necessarily share a common provenance or otherwise meet the criteria for an archival group. Collection-level cataloging is appropriate for materials that share one or more common characteristics that make it useful for them to be clustered together. Individual items in a collection may be cataloged separately and linked to the collection.
